Hyundai India has confirmed a new compact electric SUV to join them with a brand-new design. Codenamed HE1i, the upcoming electric SUV is now likely to be called the Hyundai Ioniq P following company’s recent trademark filing in India.

Over the past couple of years, the electric segment has taken over showroom space which is hard to ignore. But premium electric crossovers are hard to get for most buyers, who want an affordable and reliable compact electric SUV from a brand they already trust.

The SUV will be made for India, measure under four metres, and feature India-specific design changes. The Ioniq P name has recently appeared in Hyundai’s trademark filing under Class 12, which covers automobiles and related components. However, the company has not officially confirmed the production name yet.
