Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Premium Performance Meets Practical Compromises

Last Updated Nov 5, 2026, 1:33 PM

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric

Mercedes-Benz has just lowered the entry price for its electric SUVs in India. The GLC Electric is priced at Rs 78.5 lakh (ex-showroom), is assembled locally, and is now the entry point to Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric SUV line-up here. It is built at the Chakan plant in Pune from completely knocked-down kits.

Price and availability

Only one variant is on sale, the top-spec GLC 400 4Matic. CarDekho reports it works out nearly Rs 8.95 lakh cheaper than the combustion GLC on-road. Demand looks strong. Mercedes says it has over 1,000 bookings, the car is sold out till March 2027, and deliveries start around Diwali.

Battery, range and performance

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 offers a 94 kWh battery and two motors for all-wheel drive. Together they make 490 hp and 800 Nm, and Mercedes claims 0-100 kph in 4.3 seconds. That is quick for a family SUV that weighs nearly 2.5 tonnes.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Battery, range and performance

Real-world range of Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric might be lower than a claimed 711 km WLTP-certified range, depending on speed, AC use and traffic.

Charging is also worth a closer look. A 22 kW AC charger comes as standard, and a 330 kW DC charger can add 300 km in 10 minutes. That fast figure needs a very powerful charger, so check what is actually available on your usual routes.

Inside the cabin

The centrepiece is a 39.1-inch hyperscreen that stretches across the dashboard as one continuous panel. The trade-off is that there are barely any physical controls, even for the climate system. Some drivers will love that, others will miss real buttons.

The equipment list is long:

Comfort & Interior

  • 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos
  • Panoramic glass roof with illuminated stars and electronically adjustable opacity
  • Two wireless smartphone chargers
  • Front seats with massage and heating
  • No front-seat ventilation
  • Multi-colour ambient lighting
  • Powered tailgate and power-folding rear seats

Safety & Driver Assistance

  • Level 2 ADAS
  • 8 cameras and 5 radars
  • 9 airbags
  • 360-degree surround-view camera
  • Automated parking assistance

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Practicality

  • 570-litre boot
  • 128-litre front trunk (frunk)
  • Total luggage capacity: 698 litres

What you don’t get

This India-spec car has no rear-wheel steering or air suspension and instead rides on passive dampers. There is no sunshade on the roof, Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric cloudiness is electronically controlled.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Practicality

Who is it for?

At launch the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric has no direct rival in India, though the BMW iX3 is due next year. If you want to own a Mercedes of a particular type, a big screen, phone integration, and a long claimed range, this is the cheapest route to that. If you cannot charge the car at home, it’s best to plan this one first.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: India’s Unsung Off-Road Legend

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ gets a second look every time. It’s not the glare of a brand new luxury SUV ripping through the streets of a city. No, it’s a calm appreciation, reminiscence and respect for a vehicle that really made history.

In India, where the car market has long been the land of the fuel-efficient hatchback and, more recently, the compact SUV, the Land Cruiser FJ is almost a mythical animal — glimpsed rarely, revered profoundly, and comprehended fully by an exceedingly small number of souls who truly know what off-roading means.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ India Heritage

The FJ Land Cruiser is built on the robust IMV platform – which stands for International Multi-purpose Vehicle. Its ladder-frame underpins, for instance, the Fortuner, Hilux and Innova Crysta, Toyota’s global top sellers.

For the FJ, Toyota has taken a variant of this platform, with major underpinnings shared with the Hilux Champ, a beast designed for hard work and rugged use.

Dimensions Specifications

The Land Cruiser FJ body is shaped to provide adequate interior space while meeting “approach and departure” angle requirements for off-road use. Unlike its bigger brothers, the FJ is made to skate around in tight places, on trail and in dense Indian urban areas.

Specification Measurement
Overall Length 4,575 mm to 4,610 mm
Overall Width 1,855 mm
Overall Height 1,890 mm to 1,960 mm
Wheelbase 2,580 mm
Ground Clearance 215.3 mm to 245 mm

Design Philosophy

Toyota unveils Land Cruiser FJ “Playful Dice” concept. Inspired by the original FJ40, the design features clean geometric shapes, a beveled square body, and a tall stance that is immediately recognizable. The look works well beyond style. Its boxy shape and flat sides increase the interior cargo space and give drivers excellent views of all four corners.

Toyota

Land Cruiser FJ has sporty and rugged looks. Aggressive fender flares pop out. Bold black cladding extends from front to back. Now front and rear corner bumpers break away into removable pieces. This modular system enables owners to exchange damaged modules after off-road excursions. They can install aftermarket parts, such as winch mounts. No major body repairs required.

The front end has a rectangular gloss black grille with a “TOYOTA” tag reminiscent of our heritage, in place of the standard logo on the passenger cars. Reduced beltlines and a lowered cowl enhance the driver’s downward line of sight, which is crucial for seeing blockages straightaway. Lighting is part of the FJ character, with the availability of either heritage-inspired round LED headlamps or contemporary C-shaped LED arrays.

The rear styling is dominated by a tailgate-hinged spare wheel, a must-have for bona fide off-roaders if they’re to maximize departure angles and interior room.

Powertrain Dynamics: Petrol and Hybrid Engine

The 2TR-FE Petrol Engine

The naturally aspirated base gas engine is the 2.7L 2TR-FE I4 at launch. It has a long place in Toyota’s lineup, and its key features were reliability and easy maintenance, rather than huge power.

Specification Details
Engine Parameter 2.7L Petrol (2TR-FE)
Configuration Inline 4-cylinder, DOHC, Dual VVT-i
Displacement 2,694 cc
Maximum Power 163 PS / 166 hp @ 5,200 rpm
Peak Torque 245 Nm @ 4,000 rpm
Compression Ratio 10.2 : 1
Transmission 6-speed Super ECT Automatic

It offers 6-speed Electronically Controlled Transmission which delivers smoother rides and an impressive level of torque (which is especially beneficial when climbing tough slopes).

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ of Future Hybrids

Toyota’s green mobility initiative brings strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions to the FJ. TNGA-based systems will enable the FJ to comply with the tougher CAFE fuel efficiency standards in India. Low-end torque? Electric motors have that too.

Off-Road Engineering of Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

This vehicle has a part-time 4WD to allow its driver to adjust according to the conditions. It also offers speed that shifts into 4H or 4L very quickly whenever you need extra control and torque.

Advanced Off-Road Systems

It offers an advanced driving system that holds everything that you need to go off-road. Multi-Terrain Select will help you to switch modes on different kinds of roads (muddy, rocky, Gravel). The system adjusts throttle, brake and traction control to the terrain.

Land Cruiser

And then there is Crawl Control, which is pretty much a cruise control for off-road driving. It controls The throttle and brakes at slow speeds, That way you can pay 100 percent attention to navigating through challenging obstacles without having to worry about Losing control.

On upper-level models, you also get the Stabilizer Disconnect System (SDM). With the simple press of a button, the anti-roll bars disengage, letting the wheels flex more freely – ideal for crawling over big rocks and rough terrain.

Active Traction Control is popular to use on icy roads because (A-TRC) controls the wheel by applying brakes when it starts spinning to slow it down. And transfers power to the wheel that has more grip, so that you can keep going even in difficult conditions.

Suspension Level

The FJ is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension with coil springs, a stabilizer bar and a 4-link rear suspension with coil springs and a stabilizer. The system is tuned for “Land Cruiser-worthy” wheel articulation, meaning that chassis stability and tire contact patch with the ground are maintained, even on very bumpy terrain.

Impressive Interior: Function Meets Modernity

The Land Cruiser FJ cabin is designed very carefully, which means it combines rugged materials with intelligent ergonomics to provide exceptional utility and visibility. The dashboard’s flat layered design helps keep drivers focused on the road — or trail — when off-roading.

Technology and Comfort Features

Despite the FJ’s tough mission, there is no compromise when it comes to what modern technology users expect. The centerpiece is a 12.3-inch or 12.5-inch freestanding infotainment screen. This comes with a 7-inch digital driver’s display that shows live information about pitch, roll and drivetrain condition.

interior features of FJ

The following key interior features have been confirmed for different markets:

  • Climate control gives an amazing experience especially with rear AC vents.
  • Leatherette seats with reclining feature option in second row.
  • Tactile physical buttons for AC and 4WD, so they are user-friendly even off-road or when you’re wearing gloves.
  • Safety Sense 3.0 package, with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) including Pre-Collision Safety with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist.
  • Totally 7 airbags of front, side, curtain and driver knee ensure full protection for occupants.

Pricing of Land Cruiser FJ

Toyota has to ensure that the Land Cruiser FJ pricing does not dent the Fortuner sales. The starting price is Rs 20-25 lakh that goes up to Rs 30-35 lakh for top-end hybrid or diesel variants.

This makes the FJ a premium lifestyle product for those who truly want the Land Cruiser experience without the footprint and price tag of an LC300.

Conclusion

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is a risky wager that the world’s most dependable off-road nameplate can be scaled back without being watered down. With manufacture going to roll at the new Maharashtra plant, “baby” Land Cruiser is all set to deliver on the promise of “Freedom and Joy” for a new generation of Indian adventurers as J-series legacy continues to trail through 21st century changing terrains.

Tata Sierra EV 2026: Price, Range, Features & Launch Details

Published Apr 9, 2026, 9:13 AM
Last Updated Apr 17, 2026, 4:55 AM
TATA Siera EV

TATA Siera EV

If you lived in India during the 1990s, talk about the Tata Sierra and you’ll get hit with a big wave of nostalgia. It was a lifestyle SUV well before lifestyle SUV was a marketing buzzword. It wins hearts with outstanding design and Tata Sierra EV 2026 comes back with the more beautiful design and color which beautifully crafted tribute to our heritage, and a bold vision for tomorrow’s electric mobility.

If you are eagerly waiting for this new icon of Tata Motors then take a look at the price, range, features, and everything you need to know about this exciting electric beast.

The Comeback We Have All Been Waiting For

It’s tough to not get caught up in the excitement when a car company brings back an icon, but let’s be completely honest: nostalgia doesn’t move cars today. Buyers require substance, cutting-edge technology, and indomitable reliability. The Tata Sierra EV 2026 is an incredible blend of reminiscing about its roots and gazing straight into the future. Built on Tata’s new Gen-2 Acti.ev platform, the all-new Sierra jettisons the notoriously impractical three-door arrangement of the 90s for a far more family-friendly five-door layout.

Nevertheless, the design team excellently manages to retain the visible DNA of the car. The iconic wraparound glass at the back, the high mounted hood and the upright stance are all still there, proudly on display. However, Tata has introduced flat door handles, aero-optimized alloy wheels and a smooth closed-off front grille for better aerodynamics in the electric age.

It looks masculine, premium and there’s no denying it’s completely modern. It’s the sort of vehicle that will make a statement whether you’re driving up to a swanky restaurant in town, or taking it out on a weekend camping trip in the hills.

Tata Sierra EV 2026: Expected Pricing

Let’s discuss the what is perhaps the most important factor for any vehicle buyer: the price. EVs naturally have a cost premium over Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles because of battery costs, and the Sierra EV will be a premium lifestyle product in Tata’s expanding electric portfolio. It will most probably be positioned above the Nexon EV and Curvv EV, at the side or just below the top-tier Harrier EV.

The 2026 Tata Sierra EV base variants, equipped with the standard battery pack, are expected to start from a very attractive price bracket of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. That said, you should be prepared to pay somewhere between Rs 24 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec, long-range variant which comes equipped with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and all the tech goodies. Given the technology, space and road presence on offer, that pricing strategy could cause a few more established mid-size electric SUV rivals to waver.

The Tata Sierra EV Range

To build on the proven tech in the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV and to improve therein, Tata will probably offer the Sierra EV in multiple battery pack options.

Standard Range Battery: The base variants are expected to come with a 55 kWh battery pack, which is likely to easily provide the stated 450 km of range.

Long Range Battery: For highway travelers, Tata will offer an option for a high-capacity 60 kWh to 75 kWh battery pack. An IGA testing cycle might push up the Tata Sierra EV’s range from 500 to 600+ kilometers on a single charge with this bigger pack.

Even more exciting is the design of the drivetrain. Standard versions will be Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) for maximum efficiency, but high-end models are expected to come with a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration. That means the Sierra won’t merely have the looks of a rugged off-roader, it will have the instant-on torque and mechanical grip to get out and go on rough roads. Also, with anticipated vehicular (V2L) and vehicular (V2V) fast-charging functionalities, your SUV could be used to power your camping outdoor gear or give a quick charge to your EV buddy stuck on the road.

Stepping Inside: Next-Level Features and Tech

While the interior exudes futuristic luxury, the exterior draws inspiration from retro-modern aesthetics. When it comes to cabin design, Tata Motors has been consistently upping the ante and the Sierra EV will be their most premium and comfortable offering yet.

Triple-Screen Dashboard

The focal point of the interior will be an advanced triple-screen configuration. You will receive a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a huge central infotainment screen running the Arcade.ev app suite, and a separate screen for the front passenger to watch entertainment without diverting the driver.

Luxury Arrangement

There were also dual-zone climate control and a huge panoramic glass roof (dubbed “PanoraMax” – in a slight branding overkill) that claims to flood the cabin with sunlight and brings in the airiness of the original Sierra’s glasshouse. The interior would be lined in boned leather and the seats would be powered and ventilated.

Independent Rear Suspension (IRS)

A significant mechanical improvement over traditional beam axles, an IRS setup guarantees a cushy and stable ride on the chaotic and potholed Indian roads.

High Level of Safety

It likely comes with six airbags as standard, a high-res 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

Tata Sierra Launch Date

So when will you really have the wheel in your hands? The excitement had been simmering for years since the amazing concept was first seen at the Auto Expo and the wait is finally coming to an end.

By late 2025, Tata will have petrol and diesel variants but the electric variant will be out sooner. H1 2026 is expected to be the Tata Sierra EV’s official launch date. Trade reports indicate a release in the first or second-quarter 2026 (January – June). And if you’re in the market for a high-dollar car in the coming months, this schedule means the Sierra EV is certainly worth holding off on your buy for just a little while longer.

Quick Specs Overview

Feature / Specification Expected Details
Starting Price Rs. 15 Lakh – Rs. 18 Lakh (Estimated)
Top Variant Price Rs. 24 Lakh – Rs. 25 Lakh (Estimated)
Expected Launch Timeline Q1/Q2 2026
Battery Pack Options 55 kWh, 60 kWh, up to 75 kWh

Conclusion

In a segment swarmed with bland SUVs that look like their competitors, the Tata Sierra EV 2026 stands out with its incredibly distinctive design. It revives the emotional link to a classic automotive icon while incorporating advanced technology, a practical driving range and true capability.

Be it the nostalgia factor, the statement Tata Sierra EV range or the tech laden high-end interiors, it is quite evident that Tata is pouring its heart and soul into this comeback. If you want an electric SUV that looks cool on the street and has an even better story, the Sierra EV could be the perfect addition to your garage.

BMW X1 LWB vs Audi Q3 vs Mercedes GLA: Which Entry-Luxury SUV Actually Makes Sense in 2026?

BMW X1 LWB vs Audi Q3 vs Mercedes GLA

Looking for an entry-luxury SUV under Rs 50 lakh budget then the past two weeks have made the choice considerably tougher. The BMW X1 LWB lands in Indian showrooms on August 21, 2026, the Audi Q3 has been confirmed for a festive-season launch the same year, and the Mercedes GLA — the car both of them are gunning for — is still sitting there, unbothered, as the segment’s default answer.

Three cars, three distinct stories, and a real question about whether “entry-luxury” even has the same meaning in all three of them anymore. Let’s see what they bring to the table.

Why BMW Created a Long-Wheelbase X1 in the First Place

If you’re familiar with European or American car markets, the BMW X1 LWB may seem like a bizarre product to manufacture. It isn’t, when you know who it’s aimed at. Long-wheelbase versions are available almost solely in China and India — two countries where a sizable chunk of luxury-SUV buyers are chauffeured around, or where you’ll find three generations of a family travelling together and rear legroom dictates the purchase.

Electric version of BMW iX1 LWB already in sales in India from 2025. The price is Rs 51.4 lakh (ex-showroom) approximately and now the fuel-powered version of that car is coming after a year ago.

There is currently no other long-wheelbase entry-level luxury SUV on sale in India. That gap is the whole reason this car exists.

What the BMW X1 LWB Really Brings to the Table

A long-wheelbase as in LWB is not a concept of marketing but a definition of providing a large vehicle which sets the standard and comfort. X1 is now stretched by 116mm overall, with  110mm of that going straight into the wheelbase, now it is 2,802mm. The LWB is also 11mm taller than the standard model. In practical terms, this is the X1 to choose if the standard version feels cramped in the back for your parents or kids, not when you want a sportier drive.

BMW, was not visually tampered with in its working form. The headlamps are the same with M Sport styling cues, and sharp tail-lights that define the aura of X1. The wheel size is also 18-inch with a luxurious look. BMW X1 LWB interior gives you a 10.7-inch display for infotainment features and is powered with a Harman Kardon audio system that sets the mood. Whether you drive in the city or highway, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging and other 10.25-inch digital driver display will cover up that make you experience the beautiful ride.

BMW X1 LWB

BMW has also raised the powered seat height by 27mm, increased the width of the headrest cushions by 37mm, and a power tailgate. These are the minor adjustments, but together they result in a perceivably more spacious rear bench.

Two things are genuinely unresolved as of launch week.

First, the powertrain: BMW hasn’t officially confirmed the India-spec engine. The standard X1 here runs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol making 134PS and 230Nm through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and early reports suggest the LWB could carry the same setup — though the China-spec car (on sale there since 2023) gets a 2.0-litre unit in sDrive25Li and xDrive25Li trims.

Second, the price of standard X1 is priced at a range of Rs 40 lakh and Rs 55 lakh, depending on the final engine and trim. That’s too general to plan your finances on, so the August 21 official price is the only figure that counts.

The Audi Q3 Is Arriving Too And It Changes the Calculus

While BMW ships a stretched version of an existing car, Audi is bringing something genuinely new. Audi India has confirmed the third-generation Audi Q3 for an introduction in the fourth quarter of 2026, during the festive season, and it will be the first of three new Audi models — the A5 sedan and the new Q9 flagship which makes its way to market in 2027.

Under the hood, a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine with 7-speed dual clutch transmission fitted in the new Audi Q3 model which gives outstanding 204hp power to run like hell. The power is now sent to all four wheels that supports a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.1 seconds. The mileage tested under WLTP is 12.36 kpl.

The new model body is 40mm longer with split headlight design on front which is remarkably amazing. That’s not enough, it is more luxurious with octagonal grille, pixel LED DRLs and a rear LED light bar that represent a cunning choice.

Audi Q3

Audi Q3 interior let you feel everything so humble with a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster that drives you anywhere alone and stress-free. A 360-degree camera, three-zone climate control, also cover everything and you can get a head-up display in some trims.

The 488 litres boot size is perfect for family outing. Audi will also bring back the Sportback coupe-SUV body style next to the standard shape, just like the outgoing Q3 was available here.

Audi Q3 price estimates Rs 50-55 lakh ex-showroom, which may get lower to Rs 48 lakh. But take this number as a guess and get the exact price from your dealer.

Where the Mercedes GLA Fits — The Quiet Incumbent

This is the car both the BMW X1 LWB and the new Audi Q3 are chasing. The current-generation GLA remains on sale in India today, built around a familiar formula of turbo-petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines, an 8-speed automatic, and Mercedes’ usual badge-value pull in this segment.

Mercedes GLA

The Mercedes-Benz GLA has already made a name in India with its features and amazing look at the price of ₹51.8 lakh (ex-showroom) on the current Mercedes-Benz India website. Now you can get exact pricing details by contacting your dealer.

The interior is excellent with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system in current Mercedes GLA and it also features a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. There are other features like MBUX, wireless smartphone charging and optional 360-degree camera system. You can find the real availability, price, equipment and variant today so don’t decide on pre-launch estimations.

The Festive-Season Timing Isn’t a Coincidence

Festive season — Navratri through Diwali is when Indian luxury-car dealerships generate a large share of their yearly sales, and that seasonal demand appears even stronger this year. As Mahindra reported a 60 percent jump in SUV retail sales during Navratri alone, crediting both festive sentiment and the benefit of the recent GST 2.0 rate changes on vehicles.

BMW and Audi timing their launches into this window isn’t a coincidence — it’s the same logic playing out one price bracket higher. The test-drive will be getting busier in the festive season (October and November) so if you are in a hurry then don’t wait to book your test drive for these cars now.

Note: every number for the X1 LWB and the new Q3 above is a pre-launch estimate pulled from industry reporting, not an official figure from BMW or Audi. Treat the table as a shape of the segment, not a quote you can walk into a dealership with.

Which One Should You Actually Buy?

If rear-seat space is your actual, specific problem — you’re chauffeuring parents, or your kids have outgrown the back of a regular compact SUV — the X1 LWB is solving a problem nobody else in this price band is solving. That uncontested positioning is worth something, even with the pricing uncertainty. Just don’t book on an estimated number; wait for August 21.

If you want the newest technology, a more dramatic design shift, and don’t mind being an early adopter of a car that’s still weeks away from a confirmed India price, the Q3 makes a strong case — particularly with local assembly potentially keeping costs in check versus a fully imported model. The Sportback option also matters if styling ranks above outright practicality for you.

The current GLA is a known quantity, sold today, serviceable through Mercedes’ existing India network, with pricing you can actually verify before you sign anything. You’d be buying the outgoing generation, but you’d be buying something real, not a set of estimates.

Don’t finalize a purchase off pre-launch price estimates for the X1 LWB or the Q3. Visit a dealership after August 21 (for BMW) or once Audi confirms its Q4 launch date, get the on-road price in writing, and only then compare it against what the GLA is actually selling for at your local dealer today. Estimates may grab attention, but there’s no way to justify a ₹50 lakh decision.

Conclusion

The BMW X1 LWB is distinguished by the additional leg space at the rear seat and the all-new Audi Q3 has got newer technology with the GLA being the old reliable option. With no word on pricing for the X1 LWB and Q3 just yet, the smartest thing to do is wait for the official prices before splashing ₹50 lakh or more.
